The MSU Sexual Assault Healthcare Program is staffed 24/7 by specialized forensic nurses. Services are free and available to adults who have been sexually assaulted within the last 5 days.

The Sexual Assault Healthcare Program is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Services Building (556 E. Circle Dr.).
There are 4 entrances to the Student Services Building. You may access the Sexual Assault Healthcare Program from the east or west entrances. The East Side entrance on Farm Ln allows the most direct access to the Healthcare Program, and is closest to the designated parking spaces.

Services
Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners Conduct a Specialized Examination that may include:

Collection of Medical History

A Physical Examination
-
Treatment for Injury
-
Emergency Contraception, Preventative Treatment for Sexually Transmitted Infections

Recommendations for Follow-Up Care

If a patient agrees, Forensic Evidence is also collected through the use of a sexual assault evidence kit (commonly referred to as a rape kit).
Advocates from the Center for Survivors will be available to support the patient and assist with connecting them to resources and supportive services.
Medical Care

Medical Forensic Exam within 120 hours of the assault

Antibiotics for treatment of the most common sexually transmitted infections

Evidence collection, including DNA, within 120 hours of the assault

Pregnancy prevention within 120 hours of the assault

Photographic evidence collection of injuries sustained

Referrals for medical and emotional support
*We are unable to test for sexually transmitted infections
*If there is a possibility that you may want evidence collection, it would be helpful to provide any articles of clothing worn at the time of the assault

Designated parking is available on Farm Lane.
After hours, patients can use the intercom system at the East or west entrance to the Student Services Building to be let into the building by the nurses.
The East and West Side entrances to the Student Services Building have a buzzer for after hours access. In the overnight hours, when the outside doors to the building are locked, use the buzzer to communicate with the nurse and be let into the building.
