Supporting Survivors since 1977
About End Violent Encounters Inc.
In 1977, End Violent Encounters Inc. began as a grassroots organization established by community members, including Senator Debbie Stabenaw, under the name Council Against Domestic Assault (CADA), making us Lansing's FIRST domestic violence shelter. Over time, End Violent Encounters Inc. changed its name to reflect its expanded scope of services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual violence, stalking, and abuse later in life.
At End Violent Encounters Inc., we recognize that intersectionality is essential to providing survivor-centered care, which is why it is at the root of our services. Regardless of the identities held by survivors or perpetrators, all survivors can access our services. Furthermore, we do not and will not force survivors to take, or not take, any actions against their will, such as filing police reports, attending counseling, or leaving the abuser. As an empowerment-based organization, we empower survivors in exercising autonomy and making their own decisions throughout their healing journeys.
